Ranchi: Since the formation of Jharkhand state in November 2000, many corruption cases were unearthed but no proceeding could take place against them as the accused or detainees were high profile officials.

To begin with, in August just before Jharkhand formation, Junior Engineer of Daltonganj was arrested under corruption act but the Department of Law expressed its helplessness for a criminal proceeding against him. Now eleven years have passed but concerned officials remain mum in this regard.

Recently, many corruption cases involving junior engineers have been unearthed. 52 corrupt officials have also been found in the Department of Rural works who were indulged in illegal earning, but the requisite action is awaited.

In Hazaribag, executive engineer Jawahar Lal and junior engineers Harihar Singh, Virendra Kumar and Lal Babu were arrested in different corruption cases but no chargesheet could be filed against them.

In another case, junior engineer of Chaibasa was indulged in earning interest by depositing Rs 183 lakh bribe in bank. Nothing came out in his case.

Meanwhile, only one chargesheet has been filed in the court against junior engineer of Giridih, Jayanti Prasad, who was arrested in a corruption case in 2006.
