Ranchi: Not only Ranchi but the Jharkhand government is making all efforts to link other cities of the state as well on the air map. On Thursday, the Chief Minister Arjun Munda’s government has signed a MoU with Airport Authority of India (AAI) for building Airport in Deoghar.

In the presence of the Chief Minister, Transport Secretary Vijay Kumar Singh and AAI Chairman V P Agrawal have signed the agreement. After Deoghar, the Jharkhand government will now work towards building airports at Jamshedpur and Bokaro.

On the occasion, Arjun Munda has said that we are doing land survey for Jamshedpur airport. He has instructed Jharkhand’s officer on special duty Kamal Nayan Choubey at Delhi to finalise the implementation process.

After the linkage of Deoghar to air route, religious tourism will be encouraged. The famous pilgrimage of Parasnath is also nearby. Apart from this, Mahgama is the site for world level silk production. With the facility of airport, whole area will be in a state to promote export.

Chairman Jharkhand state coordination committee Shibu Soren has said that people will be benefitted after resuming operations at Deoghar airport. Deputy Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said that this airport will come handy for the state’s movement against naxalites. He said that state has plans to further develop 11 existing runways. This will facilitate in providing better transport facilities. Industry is also expected to get boost from the move. 

Chairman of AAI has requested state’s government to expedite process of land acquisitions as soon as possible. He has given assurance on starting services of chartered and regular flights. It will start from ATR-72 and after increase in traffic Airbus services will be given.
