Ranchi: In an attempt to strengthen the Panchyati Raj System in Jharkhand, the state government has decided to give a fixed salary to all the office bearers of the local body.

In a cabinet meeting on Thursday, it was decided to give a salary of Rs 10,000 per month to president of District Council, Rs 7500 to Vice President, Rs 5000 to head of Panchayat Committee, Rs 3000 to sub head of Panchayat Committee, Rs 1000 for head of Gram Panchayat and Rs 500 sub head of panchayat.

Besides, the heads and sub heads would also withdraw a daily allowance of Rs 150 for attending Panchayat.

However, the Cabinet did not take any decision on the issue of regularizing the doctors working on contract basis. Due to incomplete preparation regarding the rules regularisation, the decision has been postponed for the next cabinet meeting on August 2.
