Ranchi: Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday asked Airports Authority of India and central and state governments to resolve the dispute over construction of approach road to newly constructed terminal point at Birsa Munda Airport.
After hearing all the parties concerned, a division bench of Chief Justice P C Tatia and Justice Jaya Roy directed the concerned authorities to decide the matter within 30 days.
Observing that an approach road was essential, the bench asked them to inform their decision to the court on the next date of hearing of the case, which has not been fixed as yet.
Petitioner Sanjiv Poddar, in a PIL, stated that the new terminal point and an office were constructed by the Airport Authority at Ranchi at a cost of Rs 150 crore.
When the Airport Authority began to construct the approach road, Army officials claimed that the area on which the road was to be constructed was acquired for it by the Defence Ministry in the 1940s.
