Ranchi: A day after the report on adulterated milk being supplied in the state was published in Dainik Jagran, the Jharkhand High Court on Thursday issued notices to the Chief Secretary of the state, Principal Secretary of the Animal Husbandry Department and Principal Secretary of the Health Department seeking their reply on the steps being taken by the state government on the matter.

A division bench of Chief Justice PK Tatia and Justice PP Bhatt also demanded an immediate reply from Sudha Dairy on the same.

Earlier on January 11, a report on rising case of milk adulteration, ‘Zahreela to nahin aapka doodh’ (is your milk poisonous), was published on the front page of Danik Jagran. According to the published report, a survey made by the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) claimed the milk consumed by people is adulterated with harmful chemicals. The 25 samples lifted from different parts of the state were found to be 100 percent adulterated during the survey.
