Ranchi: Taking suo motu cognizance of the recent media reports of ragging in a Sainik School in Tillaiya under Kodarma district, the Jharkhand High Court on Monday directed the Education department to change the issue in Public Interest Litigation and conduct a probe into the matter.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Prakash Tatia and Justice P P Bhatt asked the Director of Education Department to enquire into the matter and submit report to the court.

The bench has also issued notice to the Principal of the school in this regard.

Subsequently, BK Tripathi, Human Resource Development Secretary will visit the school on November 18. CK Singh and Arvind Kumar Jha, deputy directors of secondary education will accompany him.

The bench took a serious note of the media story that reported that the juniors were being ill-treated by their seniors in the school. The report also quoted a junior who termed hostel as a torture room and expressed desire to quit the school.
