Ranchi: Slamming the state administrative system, the Jharkhand High Court came heavily on the state electricity board, saying if the board is not competent enough to impart its duty, the government should make an alternative arrangement.

Hearing a petition filed by Madhusudan Mittal regarding power production and its availability in Jharkhand, a bench comprising Chief Justice Bhagwati Prasad and Justice Poonam Srivastava said the state officials do not care for even the court.

The government has no clear stand on it and it does not want to take action against the errant officials, the bench said.

Coaxing the board, the bench said, “Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) did not have information about the power crisis while the Board counsel said he has no direction from the government on this issue.”

Media flashes news that electricity board has no funds to pay for its employees, the bench said. The state government and its officials are not discharging their obligations, the bench added.
