Ranchi: Amid the silent protest of the Opposition on the concluding day of the Monsoon Session of the Jharkhand Assembly, Chief Minister Arjun Munda got seven bills passed including the bill related to increase of salary of the MLAs and Ministers.

In last 10 years, this is the fourth time the salary increment has been approved. Significantly, the House was attended by the members of ruling party only whereas the opposition party members were silently watching the proceedings with posters pasted on their clothes along with wearing black badges.

As soon as the proceedings began on Saturday, the Speaker, CP Singh, took informations on calling attention motions, and as many as 20 motions were passed only in 20 minutes.
Besides, the Speaker also rejected the resignations of the members of the Business Advisory Committee.

With the passage of bill raising salaries of legislators and ministers - the fourth hike in the last ten years, the people's representatives, now drawing a monthly salary of Rs 29,000, will henceforth get Rs 70,000 per month.

The ministers will get more than Rs 90,000 per month against the present sum of Rs 40,000 per month, while the Chief Minister will get nearly Rs 1 lakh per month.
