Ranchi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday dispatched general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan to ensure the victory of party candidate SS Ahluwalia in the Rajya Sabha re-polls from Jharkhand scheduled for May 3.

Pradhan held a closed-door meeting with Chief Minister Arjun Munda, state party in charge Harendra Pratap, Jharkhand BJP chief Dineshanand Goshwami, Prashann Mishra and party candidate Ahluwalia.

After the meeting Goswami said, “We hope that our allies will extend support to the BJP candidate. The party has fielded its candidate to win the Upper House re-polls.

Turning down the question of ally Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s firm stand over fielding its own candidate, Goshwami said, “The talks are in progress. We can find the solution for a common candidate in the RS re-polls.”

Pradhan assured of his party candidate’s victory in the Upper House re-polls.

On being asked that party has no first priority votes of 27 MLAs to ensure its candidate’s victory, Pradhan said, “We have enough time to negotiate with the alliance partners. Our candidate will get elected unopposed to the RS.
