Ranchi: Expressing disappointment over indifferent attitude adopted by the MLAs in declaring their assets, Jharkhand Assembly Speaker C P Singh on Monday asked the defaulters to declare their possessions by December 21.

He said, “It is disheartening that only 20-22 legislators out of the 82 have declared their assets despite the first deadline set for March 31, 2011.” By extending the deadline, he asked the rest to submit their property declarations to the assembly secretariat by December 21.

On Opposition’s demand, the Speaker even agreed to announce the names of such defaulters, who are yet to submit their declarations.

Singh asserted that early submission of the details will enable sending the declarations to the Union Law Ministry on time.

After the session was adjourned, many MLAs including ministers like Baidyanath Ram, Satyanand Jha Batul said that they had no issues in declaring their assets. And hence would submit the details of their assets to the assembly secretariat.
