Jamshedpur: Three persons were killed and over a dozen others injured on Thursday when the bus they were travelling in overturned near Asura village in Jhinkpani police station in adjoining West Singhbhum district, police said.
The victims were all supporters of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi who was to address a public meeting in the village, the police said.
"The crowded bus was on its way from Tonto to Asura to attend the function of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatanrik) chief Marandi when the incident took place, Superintendent of Police Pankaj Kamboj said.
The driver of the bus lost control and overturned, killing three persons on the spot and injuring about 14 persons, he said.
All the injured were rushed to Sadar Hospital at Chaibasa, police said.
