Ranchi: In a case that rocked the Jharkhand state capital, a student was beheaded by her alleged boyfriend inside the prestigious St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi on Wednesday.

Virendra Prasad alias Gullu, 23, an engineering diploma student of Jamshedpur, used a sickle to behead Khusbu, 18, who was in the college to take her intermediate examination.

The gruesome incident took place around 4:30 pm when Khusbu, a student of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Inter College, came out of a classroom after taking her exam. The accused, who was overpowered soon after the crime, is a student of RD Tata College in Jamsedhpur.

Khusbu completed her study till tenth standard from her maternal grandmother’s place Sakchi in Jamshedpur.  It is reported that during her stay in Jamsedhpur she came close to Virendra. When the family came to know about their alleged affair they sent Khusbu back to Ranchi.

The fact that her family fixed her marriage to another boy irked Virendra.  He tried to convince Khusbu, but when she did not pay heed to his words Virendra resorted to the gruesome step.
Xavier’s is the same college where Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is pursuing his graduation.
