In a statement given on Thursday, the British deputy high commission in Chennai said, "The scope of collaboration includes development of the JIPMER School of Public Health (JISPH) organization of co-operative seminars, workshops and other academic meetings, strategic partnership between JIPMER and a leading UK institution(s)."

The partnership also includes exchange of knowledge, expertise, students and faculty; mentoring and monitoring, capacity building through sharing of curriculum from UK universities and others.

The statement said that the Puducherry-based JIPMER has earmarked Rs 150 crore to develop JISPH in the 12th Plan budget.
