Jammu: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) and Transport Qamar Ali Akhoon on Monday reviewed the stock and supply position of essential commodities in various districts of Jammu province.

The Minister, while chairing a meeting of officers of CAPD and oil companies, asked the concerned officials to ensure timely distribution of essential commodities to people.

In view of upcoming winter season, Akhoon stressed upon the CAPD functionaries for ensuring advance stocking of foodgrains, sugar, kerosene oil and LPG cylinders at high reaches of Jammu province for convenience of rationees.

He also directed the officials to regularly provide copy of kerosene oil supply schedule to the MLAs of the area.

He said that instruction has already been given to the concerned agencies to provide hassle free delivery of essential commodities especially LPG cylinder to the consumers in view of upcoming Diwali festival.

He also asked the officers to personally monitor the ration supply to far-flung and remote areas of Jammu division so that the poor people living in these areas get hassle free supply.

The meeting also reviewed the pace of progress on various issues like issuing of LPG agencies in different areas of Jammu province, BPL additional quota, regular checking to bring transparency in the system, bifurcation and segregation of ration cards.

The minister also directed the CAPD department to monitor the quality of ration bring received from Food Corporation of India.

The district wise status of availability of foodgrains, LPG and identification of BPL families, distribution of ration under different schemes have also been reviewed in the meeting.
