Seeking action against those who attacked Kanhaiya, media persons and some other lawyers, the parties demanded Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's reply on the issue.

"CPI demands severe action on the so called lawyers who attacked Kanhaiya, other lawyers and journalists. Bassi should be held responsible. For a fair trial and for his failure to maintain law and order, he should be shifted", the Left party said in a statement.

Terming as 'RSS goons' the lawyers involved in the attack, the CPI said they could not have targeted Kanhaiya without the connivance of police.

Slamming the police for allegedly not following SC orders, CPI(M) said Kanhaiya was attacked under the nose of policemen.

This, the party said, shows complete breakdown of law enforcing authority in the national capital.
