Akash, a 23-year-old student of Korean in JNU's School of Languages, had attacked Roshni in a room in the School of Languages at the Jawaharlal Nehru University here on Wednesday.

"Compared to Thursday, Roshni is stable but she continues to remain in ICU (intensive care unit)," Safdarjung Hospital Medical Superintendent BD Attani said.

Following the attack, Roshni had a major brain clot due to deep injuries on her skull and her right wrist was badly slashed.

"Her wounds have been examined and dressing done. Movement in her limbs has also been observed. However, there is a lot of contamination in her body," added Attani.

Roshni, the youngest daughter of a Muzaffarpur-based businessman, came for higher studies to Delhi after studying up to Class 12 in Bihar.

My sister was not in relationship with attacker: Brother

On Thursday, Roshni's brother Sudhir Gupta said his sister was never in a relationship with the attacker but Akash had been "after her for a long time".

"He (Akash) proposed to my sister several times. But she refused each time. That might have triggered the attack and suicide."

Gupta described his sister as "very intelligent" and said she had obtained good marks in last year's annual examination.

A police officer said a four-page note written in Hindi and English by Akash was being analyzed. The brutality caused revulsion and shock on the campus.
