New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University has issued notification for Students’ Union elections. Prabodhan Pal has been made the chief election officer. Pal is  doing his Ph. D in History at School of Social Science. Pal will hold discussions with all the Students Unions to fix the dates for elections. After getting nod from the JNU Administration, poll schedule will be announced.

Pal said, “My priority is to declare poll results by the end of February. In fact, Sunday is the holiday in the University campus. Given that, discussions will be held with the Students’ Unions on Monday and dates of nominations, voting and poll results will be declared either on Tuesday or Wednesday.”

“Earlier, several Students Unions suggested filing of nominations papers on February 13 which is not possible. The dates of nominations, campaign and voting will be extended,” added Pal.

It is worth mentioning that All India Students’ Association backed by Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) had bagged all the four seats in November 2007. In 2008, the JNU Administration stayed the results of Students’ Union polls. Now after the four years, the Students’ Union will be revoked in the JNU. Interestingly the Left Front has been dominating the JNU polls.

The NSUI, ABVP, Youth for Equality are striving hard to ensure victory in the polls
