New Delhi: The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Thursday once again witnessed an ugly scene triggered by some students who stirred up religious sentiments in the name of freedom of expression.

On the occasion of Dussehra, the ugly comments were made on the posters of Durga, Parvati and other Hindu deities in the university campus. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Friday held a meeting in this regard.

The offending posters were issued by some people to disturb the joyous environment on the occasion of Vijayadasami.

The objectionable comments were made on relationships of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva and other Hindu deities.

When the objectionable act came to notice, the religious festivity turned sour on the premises.  Due to idol immersion programme and university holiday, students did not complain about it to the concerned administration.

Later, with the intervention of senior students, the matter was brought under the control.
