The police have now booked him under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act. Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajay Lamba said that Asaram has been directed to appear within 4 days of receiving the notice.

Asaram, has been booked for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in a Jodhpur ashram. Police said that during investigation they have found that the girl was not willing to meet Asaram for a ritual at Jodhpur's Manai ashram but her parents had insisted on her going there due to their blind faith in the godman.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson of Asaram was booked for allegedly making derogatory comments on several religious icons while defending the self-styled godman during a television debate in the alleged case of sexual assault, police said.

A case for hurting religious sentiments of a community was registered against Neelam Pandey, after a complaint against her was filed by Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Committee at Parliament Street police station.

The complaint alleges that the spokesperson made ‘objectionable’ remarks against Guru Nanak, Gautam Budha and other religious leaders while reacting to the alleged charges of sexual assault on a minor girl against Asaram Bapu during a debate on a Hindi news channel recently.
