New Delhi: Giving jolt to the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh, brother of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator,  Haji Kamrujjama Rana on Sunday joined Ajit Singh’s Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) along with hundreds of his supporters.

BSP legislator Kadir Rana’s brother Haji Kamrujjama Rana is the Chairman of Rana Group of Companies in Muzzafarnagar.

According to political observers, Haji’s inclusion in the RLD is likely to give a political boost to the party for the 2012 UP assembly elections, as he has a good clout among Muslim electorate.
Sources said that Ajit Singh’s desire to bring in a Muslim leader from West UP has finally turned into reality.

Notably, after the ouster of former RLD leader and Minister Dr Mirajuddin, RLD was looking out for an influential Muslim leader in Western Uttar Pradesh who could garner minority vote bank for the party.

Moreover, Ranas have a good political base in the western UP and with Kamarujjama’s brother already active with BSP Ajit Singh’s move is likely to make dent into the stronghold of other Muslim leaders.

Elated Ajit Singh on Sunday said, “Uttar Pradesh is in a crisis with utter lawlessness and rampant corruption. The people are fed up with Mayawati’s government and want to see her ouster from UP. Hence, Haji is a good choice as he will play an important role for the RLD in the upcoming assembly elections.”

Meanwhile, Haji Rana said it’s like a dream come true as Ajit Singh’s RLD is the best choice for me.
