Ahmedabad: Jan Sangharsh Manch (JSM), an NGO representing the 2002 riot victims, on Saturday moved an application in a local court seeking to restrain SIT from giving the documents submitted by them in Naroda Patiya case to Zakia Jafri and others.

The metropolitan court of V K Kalhotra has issued notices to the Supreme Court-appointed SIT and Zakia Jafri, wife of slain Congress MP Ehsaan Jafri, on the application.

The court fixed May 25 as the next date of hearing in the case.

JSM in its application has contended that in the 2002 Naroda Patiya riot case, SIT has already informed a designated court that it was further investigating the case.

Untill, a final report is submitted by the investigating agency, the riot-related documents submitted by JSM should not be handed over to Zakia and others by SIT or else it would hamper the investigations, the NGO contended in its application.

Earlier, the NGO had submitted a few documents to SIT in connection with 2002 riot cases.

Zakia and another NGO Citizen for Justice and Peace of activists Teesta Setalvad had filed an application in the court recently seeking more documents from SIT which has given its closure report in the complaint against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and others.
