Ranchi: In a bid to provide better facilities to the Dumka airport and facilitate it with the requirements of commercial airlines, a MoU has been signed between Jharkhand government’s Civil Aviation department and Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL).

Chief Minister Arjun Munda said, “JSPL has been given the responsibility of connecting the Dhumka airport with other parts of the country. Also, an attempt is being made to strengthen the Air Service area and develop Ranchi as a tourist and economic circuit.”  

The JSPL has been given the charge of maintenance and restoration by the state government for ten years. With an investment of Rs 20-25 crore the four thousand feet runway would be expanded to six thousand feet. Also, all the runways would be provided with all the facilities to smoothen flights in the night.

Navin Jindal said, “We will try our best to utilize the opportunity to be part of Jharkhand’s development.”

Chief Minister Arjun Munda, deputy CM Hemant Soren, Congress MP, Chairman and Managing Director of JSPL, Navin Jindal, Civil Aviation department Chief Secretary JB Tubid were also present in the occasion.
