Chandigarh: Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri was administered the oath of office as the new Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh on Sunday.

Justice Sikri was administered the oath by Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia in a function held at Haryana Raj Bhavan here.

Besides the family members of Justice Sikri and the Judges of Delhi and Punjab and Haryana High Courts, the function was attended by Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal among others.

Born on March 7, 1954, Justice Sikri was appointed as a Delhi high court judge on July 7, 1999. He completed LLB from the prestigious Campus Law Centre of the Delhi University in 1977, bagging a gold medal for being best in the course.

Enrolled as an advocate in 1977 with the Bar Council of Delhi, Justice Sikri was a counsel for various Public Sector Undertakings, banks and educational institutions.
