Justice Ambwani, who has been transferred from Allahabad High Court, took the oath on Thursday night.

Advocates of the court have been on a strike demanding transfer of two judicial officers posted at Jaipur.

President of the Rajasthan High Court Advocates' Association Ranjeet Joshi said when the advocates reached the court today, they saw a heavy police deployment on the court premises that was done to avoid any untoward development.

"When we tried to enter the high court premises, we were stopped by the police. We resisted their move and finally succeeded in entering the court," said former Secretary of the association Nathu Singh Rathore.

The advocates then sat down in the court corridor as a token of protest and came out after some time.

Rathore said the advocates will assemble in the court on Friday and decide the further course of action regarding the protest.

Meanwhile, a fresh appeal was issued by the court administration seeking the advocates to call off the strike and appear in the court for the benefit of the plaintiffs.
