Ranchi: Jharkhand Vikas Morcha supremo Babulal Marandi on Monday made it clear that the three year-old JVM-Congress alliance has come to end saying that his party will go solo in upcoming general and assembly elections in the state.

“Our party had somewhat parted ways with Congress after state assembly elections in 2009,” Marandi said, adding that his party will field candidates on all the seats in upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections.

In 2010 RS polls, the JVM extended support to Congress after the latter promised its support for the former in 2012 RS elections. However, the Congress backtracked on its statement.

The JVM had suggested some prominent names as candidates for the biennial RS polls to the Congress. The grand old party did not accept the JVM proposal and fielded Pradeep Balmuchu in the RS re-polls.

The JVM which has 11 legislators in the 81-member state assembly, now decided to stay away from May 3 RS re-polls.
