Jamshedpur: About a dozen Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) members were taken into preventive custody at the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday when they went to submit a memorandum.

The delegation handed over a memorandum to protest the ommission of the name of party MP Ajay Kumar in an engraved stone of a project under the Backward Region Guaranteed Fund in Jamshedpur East assembly segment, JVM secretary Abhay Singh said.

The district administration was apprised of the matter earlier but nothing was done forcing the party workers to hand over a memorandum, he said.

Police sources said about a dozen JVM workers were taken into preventive custody for breach of peace in the premises of the district headquarters. A FIR would be filed against the JVM workers if the district administration issue any instruction, the sources added.
