Gwalior: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia for the first time has stepped in to resolve an issue related to Jiwaji University here, following a request made by PhD students.

The university has started an examination for registration of new PhD candidates, and has also made it compulsory for others who have already enrolled them with the PhD programme.

According to varsity administration, the new move is for the new students but it has caused immense trouble to those students who have already started their research programmes after fulfilling all formalities.

Concerned over students’ problem, Scindia said, “The students have already completed half of their research, even their projects have been passed by the University Committee. Now, it is unfair to ask them to appear in a new examination for the same.”

Earlier, the students approached the Chancellor but it was in vain. At last they decided to take their grievance to the Union Minister.

Jyotiraditya has written to the Governor of the state, Rameshwer Thakur, and has requested him for his intervention to solve the students’ problem.
