The lead character of the film ‘Kaanchi’ is a simple girl from a small village in Uttarakhand who raises her voice against every wrong thing that happens in her village.

‘Kaanchi’ is about her journey from the innocent unspoilt mountains of Uttarakhand to the corrupt sinful city of Mumbai.

Kaanchi fights for the unjust things happening in the big city. This fight against injustice makes her a youth icon. Her deeds against wrongdoings put forth her before the national leaders, who in turn try to suppress her inner power.

The love between Aaryan and Kaanchi is in the backdrop of the village.

Subhash Ghai, who is also known as the ‘showman’, has once again proved his mettle as a director with ‘Kaanchi’.

In a script as intricately woven as a Kashmiri carpet, Subhash Ghai threads together a jam-packed jigsaw. Something or the other is always happening in some corner of the script.

The music, which is so essential to the impact of Ghai's cinema, here conveys the split personality of a society that is caught in a migratory transition.

Ghai never promised to make women oriented cinema but it can be noted from his work that the depiction of the character of a woman has always been strong.

‘Kaanchi’ is entirely a women-centric film. Mishthi and Aryaan have provided a fresh essence to the film. All in all, Kaanchi is surely a onetime watch.
