Kottayam (Ker): Former President A P J Abdul Kalam on Friday stressed the need for interlinking rivers and water bodies to solve the problem of water shortage, saying "future wars would be over water."

"It has become vital for the country to develop a vision to network rivers and connect water bodies. Linking of major rivers, including Ganges, Krishna, Brahmaputra and Cauvery can help create surplus water. Future wars will be over water," he said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the 62nd foundation day celebrations of St Thomas College at Pala in Kottayam.

Urging younger generation to fight corruption, Kalam also asked the children to question their parents if they are corrupt.

"There is nothing more insulting than being questioned by one's children," he said.
