New Delhi: A Delhi court on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of former CWG Organizing Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi till June 1. Kalmadi was arrested on the charge of alleged irregularities in awarding contract to a Swiss company. 

Suresh Kalmadi, who has been in jail under judicial custody since May 4, was produced before the special CBI Judge Talwant Singh of Patiala House Court on Wednesday.

The court also extended the judicial custody of Lalit Bhanot and VK Verma till May 24 keeping in view the fact that the stipulated time period of 90 days to file the chargesheet against them which expires on the same day.

The court has also extended the judicial custody of former Joint Director General (Sports) ASV Prasad and Deputy Director General (Procurement) Surjit Lal till June 1.

The trio has been blamed for awarding contract to the Swiss company for TSR (Time Score Result) system, which caused a loss of Rs 90 crore to the nation’s exchequer.

Suresh Kalmadi has already filed a bail petition, the hearing for which has been completed.
