Mumbai, Jan 06 (Agencies): Kangana Ranaut, who is known for her petite and slim look, has been asked to regain weight for the promotion of her upcoming film 'Tanu Weds Manu' opposite Madhavan, where she plays a small town girl for the first time.

Accidentally, during the shooting of the film in April, Kangana fractured her leg and was on complete bed rest for few weeks as a result of which she had put on 7kgs.

She was a bit reluctant to start the shooting again because of her weight issues but to her surprise, film director Anand Rai recommended Kangana to shoot with those extra kilos.

She went ahead and for the shooting of her next film 'No Problem' she shed the extra weight, sources said.

The makers of ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ now want Kangana to regain those 7 kgs, so as to start the promotion of the film which is due to release on February 25.

They want Kangana to promote the film as Tanu, her character in the film and not as Kangana in real life.

Director Anand Rai said, "Kangana had put on weight during the shooting of the film and now that we are starting the promotions, I would like her to put on weight for her character. It is important that people identify with her character in the film."
