New Delhi: At the behest of Kanimozhi, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) probing the 2G spectrum scam has deferred the questioning of Rajya Sabha member and daughter of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Kanimozhi scheduled for Friday. Kanimozhi had appealed to the ED to allow her to stay in Chennai on Friday to be part of the Assembly polls counting.

ED was supposed to question Kanimozhi on Friday but now she has been allowed to remain in Chennai along with her supporters on the counting day.

On the next day of counting, Patiala House Court will pronounce its decision on the bail petition of Kanimozhi.

ED had issued summons to Kanimozhi after CBI had filed a chargesheet naming her in connection with alleged transfer of Rs 200 crore to Chennai-based Kalaignar TV by Shahid Balwa’s company.

Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar on Wednesday visited the ED office to seek exemption from appearing before the agency on Thursday as they were supposed to appear before Income Tax department on that very day which was granted to them.

The ED is yet to announce a new date for summoning them for questioning as the agency is waiting for a decision on the bail plea of Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar. If the bail plea is rejected, ED will seek permission to question them inside the jail.
