An official statement from the production house says that they have decided to part ways mutually. Ashish Patil, Business & Creative Head, Youth Films, Talent Management & Brand Partnerships at Yash Raj Films, says, “We look forward to working together in the future when the time is right.”

Now that the film deal has fallen through, speculation is rife about what may have caused this.
“The film was slated to go on the floors in April but Kapil kept delaying it as he wanted to build a bank of episodes of his show and get in shape for the film,” says a source.

“As soon as the official announcement about casting Kapil in ‘Bank Chor’ was made, sudden change was noticed in him. “He was quite excited about the project and had even suggested a few changes in the script. This could also be one of the reasons why the film deal hasn’t worked out. Moreover, the controversies surrounding Nargis and KRK brought in negative publicity for the film,” says the source.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the production house said, “Nothing went wrong between us, it was a mutual decision and the film is still on.”

Kapil, who is said to be currently busy shooting for a commercial, remained unavailable for comment.
