Shashi Kapoor



Bollywood's veteran actor Shashi Kapoor turned 77 recently. He was born on March 18, 1938 as Balbir Raj Prithviraj Kapoor in Kolkata. He has been a film director, assistant director and an ace actor in his entire film career. Having acted in 160 films, he has played diverse roles in Bollywood blockbusters like 'Deewar', 'Kabhi Kabhie' and 'Trishul' to critically-acclaimed films like ‘Jab Jab Phool Khile’, 'Kalyug', 'Junoon', 'Silsilla' and 'Muhafiz'.

The veteran actor was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the government in 2011.

“Is duniya mein aadmi insaan ban jaye ... toh bahut badi baat hai”

Raj Kapoor



Raj Kapoor was born at Dhakki Munawwar Shah near Qissa Khwani in Peshawar on December 14, 1924. He appeared in films at the age of 10. His first film was 'Inquilab' (1935). His big break came with the lead role in 'Neel Kamal' (1947) opposite Madhubala. In 1948, at the age of 24, he established his own studio, RK Films. He  produced several hit films which include 'Barsaat' (1949), 'Awaara' (1951), 'Shree 420' (1955), 'Chori Chori' (1956),  'Jagte Raho' (1956) and 'Jis Desh Mei Ganga Behti Hai' (1960).

He was honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1987.

“Duniya mein ek cheez sher-e-babbar se bhi zyada khatarnak aur darawani hai ... aur woh hai gareebi aur bhookh”

Prithviraj Kapoor



Prithviraj Kapoor was born in Lyallpur on November 3, 1906. Kapoor began his acting career from the theatres of Lyallpur and Peshawar. Kapoor essayed a supporting role in India's first film talkie, 'Alam Ara'(1931). His performance in 'Vidyapati' (1937) was much appreciated. His best-known performances are in Sohrab Modi's 'Sikandar'(1941), 'Mughal E Azam' (1960), 'Harishchandra Taramati' (1963), 'Sikandar-e-Azam' (1965) and 'Kal Aaj Aur Kal' (1971).

In the year 1972, he was honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award  for his immense contribution to Indian theatre and cinema
