Fazilka (Punjab): In the backdrop of Sunday’s incident of violence in Kapurthala Modern Jail, the Director General of Police (Prisons) said that the administration has decided to scrutinize the properties of the entire jail staffs in the state.

While talking to Dainik Jagran here on Wednesday, DG (Prisons) Shashi Kant said “There was no doubt that drugs and intoxicating elements are being supplied to the inmates in the jails across the state. And it is obvious that the jail staff is playing active role in it. But no conclusion can be derived unless the magisterial probe is over”

He further said that FIR has been registered against jail personnel and prisoners found guilty after initial inquiries.

Terming the Sunday’s incidence as a lesson for the jail administration, he said “Taking lessons from the incident, we will review the jail manual and bring necessary changes in it so that such incidents can be avoided.”

He further added that important areas including food for jail inmates, medical care, health and yoga facilities will be primarily focused.
