New Delhi: Senior BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh are likely to head to Bangalore on Monday to oversee the formal election of Jagadish Shettar as the new Chief Minister  of Karnataka.

Ex-CM Sadananda Gowda, who stepped down from the post on Sunday, is likely to be made the state unit president or may be given a Rajya Sabha berth.

Shettar who is said to be close to former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa had insisted on Gowda’s removal.

On the other Gowda is likely to submit his resignation to Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj on Wednesday clearing the way for Shettar to stake his claim.
