Bhopal: Remembering the ‘Iron Man of India’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion of his birth anniversary, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, “If he would have been alive today, the part of Kashmir occupied by Pakistan would have been a part of the Indian territory as every inch of the Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir would have been freed.”

Chauhan was addressing the government employees in a park near Vallabhbhai Bhawan on the occasion of Patel’s birth anniversary.

Chauhan said Patel had given an excellent example of determination post independence and fulfilled the most significant task of uniting princely states into the national body. If one person can be given the credit for the present form of India, its Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.” He announced that Patel’s birthday will be celebrated on a large scale in Madhya Pradesh.

He said Patel was an able organizer and administrator who had given a tough fight to the Britishers by launching the Bardoli Kisan movement.

Chauhan added Britishers had left the country into 600 pieces with freedom to the princely states to unite with India on their own will.

He fulfilled the responsibility of uniting India into a successful nation but the Jammu and Kashmir issue was not in his hands. He said, inspite of the majority, he was neither made the Congress President nor the Prime Minister.
