Lashing out at the Lt Governor on the issue of appointments and transfers of bureaucrats, Kejriwal said, "The Lt Governor has never asked me about the electricity situation in Delhi, but he is very interested in transfers and postings."

"We had made promises to the people and they have certain expectations from us, not from the Lt Governor," Kejriwal told the Delhi Assembly on the second day of its special Session. "We are answerable to the people, hence we must have the right to appoint our officials," he said.

The Chief Minister also said Narendra Modi government is taking the country towards dictatorship by issuing notification on the Lt Governor's powers.

Arvind Kejriwal said the Aam Aadmi party (AAP) government is answerable to the people who have certain expectations from it and not from the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.

A tussle had erupted earlier this month between Kejriwal and Jung over the appointment of senior bureaucrat Shakuntala Gamlin as acting Chief Secretary.
