Despite government’s assurance on Friday that it will not allow any injustice to students on the basis of language in the UPSC examinations, Kejriwal accused the NDA government of sleeping over the issue which led to the situation go out of control.

The government has sought a report within a week over the issue from the three-member panel looking into the issue but Kejriwal was clearly not amused.

The former chief minister of Delhi urged the police to stop beating the agitating students, adding that their demands were genuine and his party supports them.

“Police should stop beating protesting UPSC students. Their demands are genuine. AAP supports their demands,” Kejriwal tweeted on Friday.

“Central govt kept sleeping over the UPSC issue and allowed the situation to get out of control,” he added.

Meanwhile, cutting through party lines, a host of Rajya Sabha members expressed serious concerns over the ongoing agitation of UPSC aspirants who are protesting against the new Civil Services exam pattern and demanded cancellation of the exam scheduled on August 24.
