The fine was imposed by the intelligence wing of the Commercial Taxes Department for the year 2012-13 and 2013-14, an official release said on Saturday.

E-commerce major Flipkart has been asked to pay a fine of Rs 47.15 crore, Jabong.Com Rs.3.89 crore, Vector e-commerce Rs 2.23 crore and Robemall Apparels Rs 36 lakh, the release said.

These four e-commerce traders have been penalised for not evading tax from past two years.

After this report, the sales tax department has started keeping an eye on all other e-commerce websites. If found guilty, they will also be fined, tax officials said a daily.

The tax officials has said these online traders don't own physical showrooms and only display the products and its prices through their website. As these companies sell the products to local customers, regional taxes are applicable.
