New Delhi: In a surprising move, one of the finest cricketer of modern times, Kevin Pietersen has announced his retirement from One Day International games. Kevin Pietersen hails from South Africa. Agitated over the quota-system in South Africa, Pietersen moved to England to pursue his dreams of making it big on the international scene.

Since he embarked on the international arena with England cap in 2004, he is known for his hitting prowess. A natural wonder and hitting ability to sail the ball over the ropes almost at will. He made a mark immediately after he burst into the scene and praised by the legend Shane Warne.

Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is also surprised on the news and hailed him a ‘modern great’.

The sudden retirement is shock to the cricket fraternity in the world. However, he has said that he will continue to be in touch with his fans through twitter.

The ODI statistics of Pietersen speaks hugely about his achievements.
