Kochi, Jan 24 (Agencies): Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy on Monday said either the Supreme Court or the Centre should suo moto set up a committee to look into the allegations of amassment of wealth against the relatives of NHRC chairperson Justice K G Balakrishnan.

"I would like the judiciary to take suo motu action. There are enough allegations... The Supreme court should suo motu set up a committee or the government should set up a committee," Swamy said told reporters here.

"Once an allegation is made, it is the job of the judiciary to either prove it or disprove it...," he said.

On BJP's Tiranga Yatra to hoist the national flag in Sringar on Republic Day, he said Lal Chowk was a historical place.

"It is ridiculous for Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to say that Lal Chowk is a 'bazar area'. Why should there be objections? It is the duty of the government to hoist the national flag. Any nationalist government would come out to support the hoisting of the flag at Lak Chowk," he said.

Swamy also announced that the Janata Party would put up candidates in at least five constituencies, including Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Malappuram, in the coming Assembly polls in Kerala.

"We want to contest the elections on a plank different from the CPI (M)-led LDF and Congress-led UDF. The two fronts are misusing government power and appeasing minorities," he alleged.
