Hapur (Uttar Pradesh): Blowing fresh bugle over the much hyped Muslim sub-quota, Union Law Minister and Congress star campaigner Salman Khurshid on Thursday said that reservation is the need and right of every backward class irrespective of any community or religion.

While addressing an election rally here on Thursday, Khurshid said that reservation is an effective measure that can bring socially backward people on the path of development.

“I don’t understand why the rival parties are hesitating to deliver the minorities their right and bring them to the mainstream,” said Khurshid.

Highlighting the developmental efforts made by Congress, the senior leader said that the party has always worked for the development of society without any form of biasness.

“Congress without being partial has delivered every promise and worked for the betterment of the common man. Our government has brought schemes like mid day meal to bring poor students back to school as well as provide them with food simultaneously,” Khurshid asserted.

Launching a scathing attack on the arch rivals BJP, SP and BSP, the Congress minister said, “The governments of rival parties in Uttar Pradesh had derailed the state from the path of development. They had just made empty promises and misled the common man. Only Congress can steer the state towards development.
