"I have given my 100 percent to the tasks entrusted upon me. My hard work and dedication towards the party is only one way and it has not been recognized,” she said.

The resignation of Khushboo, a star campaigner of the DMK, came on a day when the DMK announced plans to restructure its district units as part of its revamp plan to prepare for the assembly elections due in 2016.

“At times hard decisions have to be taken at the right time with a smile. I have done just that. No point in pondering over something that hurts,” she tweeted.

“Will always have my highest regards for M Karunanidhi. He is not just leader but a father I never had, nothing can take that away,” she said in another tweet.

Sources in the DMK said she was sidelined by MK Stalin faction.

Meanwhile, Khushboo trashed all reports speculating that she may join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“I am not jumping into any other party, so stop assumptions n hold you’re your horses friends, need some time alone with family,” she wrote on Twitter.
