Kiran Bedi, who is an icon for many, was selected for prestigious Indian Police Service as the first woman of the country. Besides holding key posts as police officer like the post of Director General at Bureau of Police Research and Development before her voluntary retirement in December 2007, she is also one of the most celebrated social workers and a famous writer of the country. She has founded two NGOs in India- Navjyoti India Foundation and India Vision Foundation.

Since 2011 onwards, Bedi has been one of the prominent members of India Against Corruption movement which spearheaded anti-corruption movement led by noted Gandhian Anna Hazare to press for a strong and effective anti-graft ombudsman law in the form of Janlokpal.

Taking up new challenges in her life after her voluntary retirement, Bedi made her television debut as host and judge of the show ‘Aap Ki Kachehri Kiran Ke Saath’ in 2009, where she tried to create legal awareness among the people.
