"KCC will be provided to every farmer in the state," Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir said at a function organised by department of Agriculture and Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Pulwama district on Tuesday.
The scheme has been launched to make available financial support to the farming community, the minister said while distributing the cards among 1,000 farmers.
Mir asked the farmers to utilise the money judiciously and to return the amount to the bank in due course of time for the success of the scheme.
Appreciating the generosity of the Jammu and Kashmir bank for issuing KCCs to the farmers, the Minister said the scheme would benefit the farmers by boosting agriculture activities and helping them to meet timely the short term credit requirements for cultivation of crops, post harvest expenses and loans for the produce of marketing.
The Minister said government is contemplating to make farm mechanisation available on rent basis to farmers so that marginal farmers could benefit.
"We have to synchronise ourselves with latest Agri–Horti techniques utilised across the globe for making the agriculture as profitable activity," he said.
He said the government has made a comprehensive plan to tap ground water resources for irrigation facilities to the Karewas of J&K.
He said batteries of tube wells are being dug across the state to ensure adequate irrigation facilities to the un-irrigated cultivable areas of the state.
