Kolkata: Kolkata Polo Club is all set to host the much awaited Ezra Polo World Cup on the occasion of its 150th anniversary.

Under the supervision of Indian Golf Club, the week-long tournament would start from December 18 at Pat Williamson Ground near Victoria memorial.

Kolkata Polo Club president Keshav Bangur announced the programme for the Polo WC.

The Sen Sisters—Raima Sen and Riya Sen—who have been announced as brand ambassador for Polo World Cup were present in the conference on Thursday.

 “Including India, the international teams of US, Italy, Brazil and Indonesia will take part in the Polo World Cup” they said.

Renowned players like Santiago Tokalino, Roberto Alvarez, George Mouric, will be seen in action in this Polo fiesta. 

Kolkata Polo Club and IPA/Cavallari will represent India in the World Cup.

In this enthralling event, the six teams will be divided into two leagues. The top teams of each league will clash in the final to be held on December 25.

Along with the Federation of International Polo President Eduardo Hidalgo, England’s Ellingham Polo Association President Nick Divers, Indian Polo Association President General VK Singh and Army Chief Lieutenant General VK Singh, the high dignitaries, and industrialist are expected to attend the final.

Ezra Cup is the first ever polo trophy in the world. It is named after Sir David Ezra.

Ezra was a leading Jewish business tycoon in Kolkata. The first Ezra Cup was held in 1880.
