"Every film is a new mistake. Looking back I find, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai a ridiculous story. When I see Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, I think it is 35 minutes too long. Kal Ho Naa Ho, I wish I had changed the end. Student of the Year, I wish it had more of emotional intensity," he said.

Karan Johar has collaborated with Disney-UTV for the Ritesh Batra directed The Lunchbox, slated to hit silver screens on September 20.

The director, who is famous for his larger-than-life take on romance, said he decided to attach himself to the film because he was envious of its simplicity.

"I envy that the film was not completely mine, envy that it had the most beautiful writing and a simple story told in a way that I could never write. So I decided to substitute envy with acknowledgement. If you can't beat them, join them."

Karan also said that he is planning to direct another film in September next year. "I have the story and I am working on the screenplay,” he said.
