New Delhi: Amidst the hoopla over the induction of expelled BSP minister Babu Singh Kushwaha in the saffron party, the SP has stated that the BJP and BSP are scratching each other’s back for political gains in the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

“The BJP and BSP are assisting each other for reaping political benefits. Kushwaha’s entry into BJP was pre-decided. They mutually decided that if Kushwaha is charged under the NRHM scam, the BJP will let it join its fold,” party secretary Ajay Agarawal said in a statement on Monday.

Agarawal said, “The meeting of BJP working committee had been held in February 2011at the hotel of Saurabh Jain, main accused of NRHM scam. Jain had spent lakhs of rupees in organizing the meeting.”

Holding BSP supremo Mayawati equally responsible in the entire episode, Agarawal said, “Kushwaha was a very close aide of the Chief Minister. She had even declared him as her successor. But as soon as his involvement with the NRHM scam was exposed, she expelled the minister, in a bid to clean the image of the party in the face of assembly polls.”
