Leh: The much-awaited Ladakh Festival 2011 has commenced with much fanfare here.
   
The festival was inaugurated on Friday by the state Minister of Tourism Nawang Rigzin Jora. A postal and photos exhibition has also started as part of the festival.
   
"This year 1, 50,000 tourists crossed by mid august which is a good sign of tourism industry in Leh," Jora said while addressing a public gathering.
   
The festival is being diversified in different areas of Ladakh this year with many cultural programmes being shifted from Leh to far flung areas in order to expose those places to the national and international tourists.
   
As a part of the festival, the department of post on  Saturday issued around 20,000 postal stamps in a function held at an auditorium in Leh.
